B. L. Joyce Parade Criteria PDF Print E-mail

You have been invited to participate in the B. L. Joyce Parade on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 between 6pm and 10 pm.  Each participant will be required to build a float that is people powered. Floats can be small or large. All floats must be pulled or pushed by people power only. Your float can be made from anything that rolls from a wagon, a wheel barrel, bicycle or anything you can conceive. They can be covered with paper, flowers or anything you can glue, tape or paste. Each float should have a theme that you choose.



The purpose of the B. L. Joyce Parade is for the youth and adults of our community to work on a float together, to march down our streets together and present their collective works to the our community together. All joining other schools, community organizations and businesses throughout Austin in celebrating our community and others coming from communities from all over the state of Texas…….together as one!

The parade will start at Huston-Tillotson University and end at the Carver Museum. (Route Map)



The will be a music festival at the Carver Museum at the completion of the parade. The Grand Marshals of the Parade will be Beverly Kerney, Head Woman’s Track Coach at the University of Texas and Howard Ware, Head Track Coach at Huston-Tillotson University.

The purpose of this parade is to have FUN……Together!
